Frequently asked questions
- Which quality should I choose?
- Balanced (up to 1080p) is right for most sharing. Small (up to 720p) gives the smallest file. High keeps full resolution. Original only trims and keeps the original quality. Custom lets you pick the resolution and bitrate yourself.
- How accurate is the estimated size?
- Usually within about 10%. Very simple videos, such as screen recordings or still scenes, can come out smaller than estimated.
- The exported video is not smaller.
- The original is probably already well compressed. Choose a lower quality, or Custom with a lower bitrate or resolution.
- What does Keep Metadata do?
- When on, the exported video keeps the original recording date, location and camera details. Turn it off to remove them before sharing.
- Will my HDR videos look right?
- Yes. HDR videos from iPhone stay HDR after compression.
- Where is my exported video?
- On iPhone and iPad, tap Save to Photos. On Mac, click Save… and choose a folder. You can also use Share to send it to any app.
- The app cannot save to Photos.
- Open Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos › VidCompressor and allow adding photos.
- Are my videos uploaded anywhere?
- No. All processing happens on your device. VidCompressor has no account, no tracking and no ads.
